Young Rapper DRIZZZ Crowned Winner of Triple J’s 2025 Unearthed High

Triple J has announced 16-year-old hip-hop artist DRIZZZ as the winner of its 2025 Unearthed High competition, a platform that has consistently highlighted promising teenage musicians across Australia. The young rapper impressed the judges with his track “Who’s Dat!”, a powerful drill anthem characterized by high energy, sharp lyricism, and a confident delivery that defied his age. Backed by additional singles and live performances, DRIZZZ quickly established himself as a standout competitor among more than 1,300 entrants nationwide.

The announcement was made live on Triple J Breakfast by hosts Concetta and Luka, who visited DRIZZZ at his school in South-West Sydney. Claire Mooney, Triple J’s Unearthed Music Director, praised him for his charisma and professionalism, noting that his sound already reflects readiness for the professional music industry. As part of his prize, DRIZZZ will collaborate with renowned hip-hop producer Nerve in a dedicated songwriting session. He will also benefit from mentorship opportunities and professional support from industry experts and the Triple J team.

Alongside DRIZZZ, the Unearthed High Indigenous Initiative recognized 16-year-old Gomeroi singer-songwriter Kyla Belle for her heartfelt song “Myself.” Written in an alt-country style, the track explores themes of teenage identity. Her recognition includes a production collaboration with acclaimed producer Konstantin Kersting, as well as guidance from Triple J’s Nooky. Both winners will receive tools and mentorship to further develop their careers. With over 1,300 submissions, the 2025 edition of the competition marks one of the biggest showcases of young Australian music talent to date, also spotlighting finalists such as Frank & Louis, heyzuko!, RIAH, and Theeth.
