Apple Reportedly Developing New AI-Integrated Version of Apple Music

Apple is reportedly working on a significant overhaul of its Apple Music service that will incorporate artificial intelligence features, according to tech journalist Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. The revelation was made during a casual Discord conversation over the weekend. While Gurman did not offer extensive details, he indicated that there is currently no estimated release date and that Apple is unlikely to mention the project at WWDC 2025. Speculative features include AI-generated playlists and potentially an ‘AI DJ,’ similar to functionality found on competing platforms like Spotify.

In the meantime, Apple is expected to showcase smaller updates to the Apple Music app as part of iOS 26, including the introduction of full-screen animated album art on the Lock Screen, enhancing the visual experience of music playback. The Now Playing view, which currently tints the background based on album art, may expand the display of album artwork significantly.

This rumored development comes amid Apple’s broader integration of AI across its software ecosystem, highlighted by the unveiling of a new universal design language called ‘Liquid Glass’ during WWDC 2025. Although the AI-powered Apple Music reboot remains unofficial, it signals Apple’s growing focus on incorporating machine learning technologies into consumer-facing applications.
