Suga Completes Military Service, Marking Full Discharge of BTS Members
Suga, a member of the global K-pop sensation BTS, has completed his mandatory military service in South Korea, becoming the final member of the group to do so. While his six fellow bandmates—Jin, J-Hope, RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook—served in the military, Suga fulfilled his duty as a social service agent due to a prior shoulder injury. With Suga’s discharge, all seven BTS members have now completed their national obligations, and fans are anticipating the group’s reunion later in 2025.
South Korea mandates that all able-bodied men aged 18 to 28 serve between 18 and 21 months in the military. Although there have been public debates about granting exemptions to K-pop idols, BTS members followed a staggered enlistment schedule, allowing for solo career development during the hiatus. Suga notably released his solo album ‘D-Day’ in 2023 under the name Agust D.
The day of Suga’s discharge was kept low-profile to avoid crowding. Additionally, he issued an apology on Weverse for a drunk driving incident in 2024, for which he was fined. The group, known for chart-topping hits and Grammy nominations, is expected to resume group activities now that all members are available.
