Sponsors withdraw from Wireless Festival following Kanye West headliner controversy
The upcoming 2026 edition of London’s Wireless Festival is facing major setbacks following the announcement that Kanye West would headline the event. The rapper’s inclusion has sparked widespread criticism due to his history of antisemitic remarks, prompting several major sponsors to sever ties. Pepsi, the festival’s main sponsor since 2015, was the first to pull out after public backlash and comments from celebrities like Matt Lucas. Soon after, drinks giant Diageo, which owns Johnnie Walker and Captain Morgan, also withdrew its support, citing serious concerns. Rockstar Energy Drink, owned by PepsiCo, followed suit, as did PayPal, which has suspended its branding and ticketing partnership with the festival. Other sponsors such as Budweiser, BeatBox, Drip, and Big Green Coach have yet to comment on whether they will remain involved. West, who is set to perform all three days from 10–12 July in Finsbury Park, recently issued a public apology for his antisemitic actions, attributing them to a brain injury and mental health struggles. Despite his statements of remorse, the decision to feature him has drawn condemnation from public officials, including the Mayor of London, and Jewish leaders who call the move ‘deeply troubling’. The Wireless organisers have not yet issued an official response to the backlash.
