Brazilian Singer Luiza Girardello Unveils Debut Album ‘World Ablaze’ at NYC Show
Brazilian singer-songwriter Luiza Girardello, a Berklee graduate, recently performed an intimate pocket show at Bibliotheque NYC to promote her debut album ‘World Ablaze,’ released on August 14, 2026. The album’s title is derived from a line in her song ‘Drunk on You,’ which explores a destructive romantic relationship using alcohol as a metaphor. Girardello’s performance blended original songs with vibrant covers of American rock and Brazilian pop classics, including a haunting rendition of Nirvana’s ‘Heart-Shaped Box’ and fresh takes on Brazilian hits ‘Dê um Rolê’ and ‘Samba e Amor.’ She was joined by guitarist Niko Malinowski and saxophonist Yuval Agam, collaborators from her Berklee days. The show also featured Brazilian pop musician Zabelê Gomes, Girardello’s manager and mentor, who is the daughter of Brazilian rock group Novos Baianos members. Gomes’s presence added a personal touch to the performance of ‘Dê um Rolê,’ originally recorded by her parents’ band. Girardello discussed her cross-cultural identity, feeling between American and Brazilian cultures, and her journey as an independent artist. She met Gomes in 2024 after independently releasing album singles, leading to a mentorship that has shaped her career. The performance highlighted Girardello’s artistry and range, showcasing her ability to blend musical influences while exploring themes of identity and connection. The intimate setting at Bibliotheque NYC provided the perfect atmosphere for fans and new listeners to experience her music, which balances emotional depth with accessible storytelling.
