Tunu Halisi to compose AFCON 2027 song after winning BASATA Rising Star Award

DAR ES SALAAM – The National Arts Council of Tanzania (BASATA) has officially named Tunu Halisi as the winner of the BASATA Rising Star Awards. In recognition of his achievement, Tunu Halisi has been tasked to create a special song for the upcoming AFCON 2027 tournament. During the award presentation at the French Cultural Centre, Acting Executive Secretary of BASATA, Edward Buganga, said that three songs will be recorded under this program, with one specifically dedicated to celebrating AFCON 2027. Tunu Halisi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to BASATA and Tanzanians for their unwavering support, promising to produce a song that will resonate with listeners across the nation. The Rising Star Awards initiative is designed to identify and nurture young artistic talent, providing them with a platform to grow and gain recognition. President of the Tanzania Music Federation, Addo November, highlighted the program’s significance, stating it has become a key tool in advancing Tanzania’s music industry. This recognition not only motivates emerging artists but also strengthens the country’s cultural and artistic landscape, linking music with major national events like AFCON. The program continues to inspire young musicians to pursue their dreams and contribute to the national music scene.
