Rapper Luci4, born James Dear and also known by the stage name Axxturel, has died at the age of 23. According to a report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, he passed away on Sunday, February 22, at a private residence in Los Angeles. His grandparents told TMZ that he died at a friend’s house, and authorities reportedly found his wallet empty when they arrived at the scene. The Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced him dead at 11:40 a.m., and the Los Angeles Police Department has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Luci4 was considered a rising talent in the emerging microgenre known as sigilkore, a substyle of trap music that blends electronic elements with cloud rap influences. His breakout single, “BodyPartz,” achieved major commercial success and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 2024. In 2025, he released the album “Vampmania 3,” further establishing his presence in the underground rap scene. In early 2026, he continued to build momentum with new singles including “Otw,” “Sleeve,” “B4 the Storm,” and “#NEVERSURRENDER,” as reported by Billboard.
Luci4’s manager, Kayla G, confirmed his death in an emotional TikTok post, describing him as a leader, a genius, and a unique artist whose influence would not be forgotten. His sudden passing has left fans and fellow musicians in shock, with many reflecting on the impact he made in a short but promising career.
