Britney Spears enters rehab to address substance abuse after DUI incident

Britney Spears, the 44-year-old Grammy-winning pop star, has voluntarily entered a rehabilitation facility to address long-standing substance abuse issues, following her DUI arrest in Ventura County, California, on 4 March 2026. Sources report that Spears has struggled with alcohol and ADHD medication such as Adderall over the years, and the recent incident served as a wake-up call for her. Spears’ decision comes with support from her inner circle, including her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James Federline. She is enrolled in a 30-day programme but may extend her stay depending on her recovery needs. Spears has also been actively participating in Alcoholics Anonymous meetings since the arrest, demonstrating her commitment to recovery and prioritising her mental health. Her representative confirmed the rehab stint, framing it as a positive step both for her well-being and in relation to her pending court case, scheduled for 4 May. Spears has a history with the AA programme, having attended meetings four times a week during her conservatorship, which ended in November 2021. This step is considered by those close to her as a dedicated effort to regain stability and focus on her health and family.
