Calum Scott opens up about his journey through fame, mental health challenges, and body dysmorphia
Calum Scott, the singer who rose to fame on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ after receiving a golden buzzer from Simon Cowell, has shared his personal struggles with mental health, including body dysmorphia and panic attacks. Despite achieving remarkable success, including over a billion streams and a chart-topping single, Scott’s rise to fame came with immense pressure. He recalls a dark period where he struggled with low self-esteem and even contemplated suicide. His breakthrough moment came when he realized the impact his potential death would have on his mother, giving him the strength to seek help. Scott also discussed the challenges of living under constant scrutiny, especially when social media often paints an unrealistic picture of people’s lives. He describes how body dysmorphia, which can affect how individuals perceive their appearance, became a significant struggle. Despite these battles, Scott continues to advocate for mental health awareness, sharing a message of hope: ‘Stay headstrong, believe in yourself. Anything’s possible.’ His third album, *Avenoir*, will be released on 12 September 2025, and he will begin a 48-city world tour in October.
