Musician Chintan Kalra to perform and conduct ukulele workshop in Bengaluru

New Delhi-based musician Chintan Kalra, known for his versatility across around 20 musical instruments, is bringing his unique Ukulelisten series to Bengaluru this weekend. Though initially considering the ukulele as a ‘baby instrument,’ Chintan discovered its profound potential after exploring Hawaiian solo ukulele music. He has since released two albums, ‘Endless Strum’ and ‘Endless Strum II,’ which offer meditative, improvisational tracks featuring ukulele, percussion, and rhythmic elements. Now, ahead of his third album that introduces expanded percussion and string arrangements, Chintan will perform live in Bengaluru. On March 13, he will perform at ArtKhoj in JP Nagar, followed by a workshop at Rainbow Bridge in Halasuru on March 14, and another performance at Bangalore Creative Circus on March 15. His workshops aim to demystify the instrument, showing that the ukulele can be expressive beyond its usual ‘chirpy’ reputation, even capable of evoking deep emotions. Chintan emphasises that many Indian classical and film-based melodies adapt beautifully to the ukulele, making it an accessible instrument for musicians and enthusiasts alike. The Bengaluru tour follows a successful stint in Chennai and reflects Chintan’s ongoing effort to educate and inspire audiences about the versatility and meditative power of the ukulele.
