Clodagh Rodgers, British Eurovision Singer and TV Personality, Dies at 78

Clodagh Rodgers, the Northern Irish singer renowned for her performance of ‘Jack In The Box’ at the 1971 Eurovision Song Contest, has passed away at the age of 78. Her son, Sam Sorbie, announced her death, revealing that she died peacefully at her home in Cobham on 18 April 2025 after a three-year battle with illness. Rodgers was described as the ‘rock’ of her family and remembered for her joyful life and career.

She rose to prominence after finishing fourth at Eurovision, representing the UK. Her song became a UK chart hit and led to her becoming a familiar face on British television during the 1970s and 1980s. She featured on iconic shows like The Morecombe and Wise Show, The Two Ronnies, and Top of the Pops. Beyond music, she became the face of Bisto gravy and starred in West End productions like ‘Talk Of The Town’ and ‘Blood Brothers’.

Rodgers released six studio albums, several compilations, and numerous singles throughout her career. She also appeared in the TV drama ‘The Bill’ in 2001 and famously insured her legs for £1 million. Survived by her two sons, Sam and Matt, Rodgers left behind a lasting legacy in British entertainment.
