Daniel O’Donnell Announces Touring Break to Prioritize Health After Ongoing Illnesses

Irish singer Daniel O’Donnell, aged 63, has announced an extended break from touring due to ongoing health problems, including allergies and recurrent chest infections. A statement posted to his official Facebook page emphasized that this is not a retirement but rather a necessary pause to allow him to focus on recovery and well-being. He plans to fulfill all current tour commitments through December 2025 before stepping back from the road. Known affectionately as ‘Wee Daniel’, O’Donnell has been a prominent figure in Irish and UK music for over four decades, with more than 45 studio and live albums to his name. In addition to his performances, he is slated to host his annual ‘Opry le Daniel’ TV series on TG4 in early 2026 and has one other confirmed engagement aboard Gertrude Byrne’s Mediterranean Cruise in September 2026. O’Donnell has also recently warned fans about scams circulating online, including fake images suggesting he was hospitalized. Despite past threats and challenges, including a cancelled concert due to a paramilitary threat in 1994, he remains committed to his audience and career, while prioritizing his health in the coming years.
