Trivium Drummer Alex Bent Leaves Band to Pursue New Musical Ventures

Alex Bent, drummer for the Orlando-based metal band Trivium since 2016, has announced his departure from the group, just weeks before their North American tour begins. Bent, who contributed to the band’s last three albums—’The Sin And The Sentence’ (2017), ‘What The Dead Men Say’ (2020), and ‘In The Court Of The Dragon’ (2021)—shared his gratitude for his nine-year tenure in a social media post on October 3, 2025. He highlighted the unforgettable moments, music, and friendships formed during his time with Trivium, expressing pride in their shared achievements and offering continued support for the band’s future. Bent emphasized that his exit marks the start of a new chapter, with plans to continue creating and performing music. Trivium responded by wishing Bent success in his future endeavors. The band is preparing to release their ‘Struck Dead’ EP on October 31, 2025, their first new material in four years. Last year, Trivium co-headlined a tour with Bullet For My Valentine, though some shows were canceled unexpectedly. At Bloodstock 2025, they paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne with a cover of Black Sabbath’s ‘Symptom Of The Universe.’ Meanwhile, Bent’s family faced challenges, as his wife launched a crowdfunding campaign in 2024 for their prematurely born daughter’s medical expenses.
