Ed Sheeran Performs with TRACKS to Promote Youth Talent in Sheffield
Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran gave fans an unexpected treat with a surprise outdoor performance in Sheffield, joining TikTok DJ AG to support the youth music initiative TRACKS. The project, a partnership between Sheffield Music School and Sheffield Music Hub, focuses on helping young people enter the music industry. Earlier this year, Sheeran’s foundation pledged three years of funding for TRACKS, which is now being used to support a youth club and music programs. During the event, young TRACKS musicians, including Max (16) and Jayden (13), performed a new single titled ‘Spotlight’ alongside Sheeran and AG. The young artists described the opportunity as deeply meaningful and a chance to feel part of the music community. DJ AG emphasized the importance of creating platforms for emerging talent, saying his role was to highlight others, not himself. Attendees, including long-time Sheeran fans and local musicians, praised the event’s impact, especially its focus on nurturing local talent. Sheffield City Council leader Tom Hunt described the three-hour concert as a testament to the city’s rich musical heritage and potential. The surprise show not only celebrated Sheeran’s ongoing support for new artists but also spotlighted the thriving creativity within Sheffield’s youth.
