Sir Elton John has secured his 10th UK number one album with ‘Who Believes In Angels?’, a collaboration with US country artist Brandi Carlile. The album, written and recorded in just three weeks in late 2023, has been praised by critics for its emotional depth and bold creativity. Elton expressed surprise and gratitude for the achievement, reflecting on his long career. The project, which also involved producer Andrew Watt and longtime lyricist Bernie Taupin, was marked by moments of tension and self-doubt, especially due to Elton’s recovery from hip surgery. A behind-the-scenes documentary showed his emotional struggles during the process. The album includes the standout track ‘Swing For The Fences’, an anthem for the LGBTQ community co-written by Carlile. The album sold over 15,000 copies in two days in the UK and was the week’s top vinyl seller. With this success, Elton now joins music icons like Abba, Queen, and Michael Jackson in the list of artists with the most UK number one albums. Only The Beatles and Robbie Williams have more, with 15 each. In the singles chart, Ed Sheeran made a strong comeback with ‘Azizam’, while Alex Warren’s ‘Ordinary’ held the top spot.
