British Fans Travel to Switzerland for Eurovision 2025 Final

Hundreds of British Eurovision fans have traveled to Basel, Switzerland, to attend the 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Among them are longtime followers like Kevin Stephenson, Leigh Lester, and Daniel Folly, who took a special EasyJet flight from Gatwick. Gary Speirs from Brighton, attending his 34th contest, shared that Eurovision is deeply ingrained in his life. The UK’s representatives this year are Remember Monday, a band from Surrey, set to perform in Saturday’s final. The smaller Basel venue hosts 12,400 people, while a massive outdoor viewing party will be held at St. Jakob-Park stadium, which can accommodate 36,000 spectators. Eurovision enthusiasts like blogger Molly O’Brien, who will be watching from Italy, expressed jealousy of friends attending the live event. The UK ranked third in ticket purchases behind Switzerland and Germany. This year’s competition draws fans from over 80 countries, even those not represented in the contest, such as Brazil, New Zealand, the Philippines, and Japan. The final will be broadcast on multiple BBC platforms on 17 May at 20:00 BST. For many fans, Eurovision is more than a music contest—it’s a community and a year-long passion.
