Robbie Williams reunites on stage with fan featured in Take That documentary

A long-standing moment of pop nostalgia came full circle in Wolverhampton when Robbie Williams invited Jemma Williamson, a fan featured in a Take That Netflix documentary, to join him on stage during his recent concert. Williamson first appeared on camera more than 30 years ago when, as a 14-year-old superfan, she travelled from the Wirral to Chester hoping to meet the band at a signing event. After being unable to get inside, she stayed outside the venue and was filmed enthusiastically asking Williams to call her, memorably praising his looks and charm.

The footage resurfaced decades later in the three-part Netflix documentary about Take That and went viral online, attracting widespread attention and tens of thousands of likes on social media. Williams himself later attempted to call the number shown in the clip, further fuelling its popularity and turning Williamson into an unexpected symbol of fan devotion from the band’s early years.

During his performance at The Halls in Wolverhampton on Monday night, Williams surprised the audience by inviting Williamson on stage and introducing her as ‘Jemma from the Take That documentary’. In front of hundreds of fans, she repeated her famous line from her teenage years, prompting laughter and cheers from the crowd. Williams jokingly asked whether she had received many calls since then, to which she replied that the number was no longer in use. The moment ended with a warm hug and loud applause.

Now a nursery teacher living in Wolverhampton, Williamson said she was overwhelmed by the positive reaction and felt the moment had sparked nostalgia for many people. The appearance formed part of Williams’ Long 90s tour, during which he has chosen smaller venues reminiscent of his early solo career. The singer, originally from Stoke-on-Trent, is also celebrating major chart success, with his latest album, Britpop, becoming his 16th number one and surpassing a record previously held by The Beatles.
