Standon Calling Music Festival Ends After Company Goes into Liquidation

The iconic Standon Calling music festival has officially been cancelled after 17 years of operation. Organisers announced that the festival, which was first held in 2006 in Standon, Hertfordshire, will no longer take place due to the company going into liquidation. The event, which attracted thousands of festivalgoers over the years, was last held in 2022 and had been due to return in 2024 with significant changes. The organisers revealed that after suffering substantial financial losses in 2022 and 2023, they were unable to secure the necessary investment to continue running the festival. The festival’s planned return was going to feature a unique format with two weekends but without camping or late-night parties. However, despite efforts to find new investors, including a year-long negotiation with one party, the organisers were forced to shut down the company. This news has left disappointed ticket holders like Adam Pipe, who had purchased family tickets for the 2024 festival, as well as unpaid vendors and performers, still waiting for their compensation. The liquidation marks the end of an era for Standon Calling, which had hosted notable acts such as Charli XCX, Madness, and Primal Scream. The organisers expressed deep regret over the closure but thanked loyal supporters for their years of dedication.
