Hoshina Anniversary releases new LP blending electronic and traditional sounds

Tokyo-based artist Hoshina Anniversary has unveiled his new album, ‘Rebirth’, on September 26, 2025. Following the atmospheric soundscapes of his previous LP, ‘Leave Behind’ (2023), this new project deepens his introspective vision, incorporating falsetto vocals and electric bass into a unique mix of electronic textures and live instrumentation. While the influence of artists like Thom Yorke and Robert Wyatt is evident, Hoshina’s sound is unmistakably his own. The album revisits his ‘watechno’ era, a fusion of electronic music with traditional Japanese instruments that defined his works from 2019 to 2023. Tracks like ‘Utage’ showcase a compelling bass line, ‘Kanade’ highlights haunting falsetto vocals, and ‘Hysteria’ brings jazz-inflected percussion into the mix. Throughout, the album creates a dynamic emotional landscape where chaos and tranquility co-exist, reinforcing Hoshina Anniversary’s position as one of Tokyo’s most innovative musical voices.
