Genesis Owusu reflects on his life and career while staying rooted in Tuggeranong

Genesis Owusu, born Kofi Owusu-Ansah, is a Ghanaian-born musician who moved to Canberra as a baby and remains deeply connected to his Tuggeranong roots despite international success. At 28, he has achieved ARIA awards, global tours, and critical acclaim for his eclectic blend of rap, hip-hop, funk, and post-punk. Owusu values the peace and stability Canberra provides, describing it as a place where he can reset his mind and create music away from the chaos of touring life. He recently purchased his first home in Calwell, near where he grew up, while his parents have returned to Ghana.
