CMAT postpones UK tour to undergo urgent dental surgery

Irish singer CMAT, whose real name is Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, has announced the postponement of her sold-out UK tour originally scheduled to start today. The 29-year-old revealed on social media that she requires urgent dental surgery to remove two infected wisdom teeth, which has left her unable to open her mouth fully or perform. Thompson expressed her apologies to fans, acknowledging the inconvenience this may cause to those who had planned to attend her concerts. Ticket holders will have the option to attend rescheduled dates or request refunds. The tour, which began after the release of her third album in August, was set to include performances in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, and Newcastle over the coming week. Recovery from the surgery is expected to take at least two weeks. Despite this setback, CMAT plans to continue her tour in October, with the UK leg concluding in March, followed by performances in Europe and at the 2026 Coachella festival. Earlier this year, she performed at Glastonbury and spoke to the BBC about online fat-shaming experiences. Her latest album includes the track ‘Euro Country,’ which explores the effects of the 2008 financial crisis in Ireland, and BBC Radio 1 clarified that it played the song’s Irish language intro as intended.
