Jack Black Makes Billboard History With 34-Second Song From Minecraft Movie
Jack Black has achieved another musical milestone by making the Billboard Hot 100 chart with an unconventional track from a video game-inspired film. The song, titled ‘Steve’s Lava Chicken,’ is just 34 seconds long and comes from ‘A Minecraft Movie,’ in which Black co-stars with Jason Momoa. Despite its brevity, the song debuted at No. 78 on the chart, powered by its viral success on TikTok, where it has been featured in over 280,000 videos. On Spotify, it has already amassed close to 22 million streams. Billboard confirmed that it is now the shortest song ever to chart in the Hot 100’s 67-year history. This marks Black’s second charting hit from a video game-themed movie, following his 2023 success with ‘Peaches’ from ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie,’ which peaked at No. 56. Black, also known for his comedic rock band Tenacious D and his role in ‘School of Rock,’ continues to bridge his musical and cinematic talents. ‘A Minecraft Movie’ has also been a box office hit, grossing nearly $380 million domestically. Warner Bros. is capitalizing on the film’s success with a planned ‘block party’ event where fans can celebrate the film and its quirky soundtrack.
