Jeff Lynne cancels final ELO shows due to health issues

Jeff Lynne has expressed his deep disappointment after being forced to cancel the final two shows of Electric Light Orchestra’s farewell tour due to a systemic infection. The band was scheduled to perform at BST Hyde Park on July 13, marking the final concert of their ‘Over And Out’ tour, but the performance was canceled just a day before. Earlier, on July 10, ELO also had to cancel their penultimate show at Manchester’s Co-Op Live. Lynne, currently recovering at home, issued a statement saying he was ‘absolutely gutted’ about the cancellations. He thanked the fans, band, and crew for their support. Organizers revealed that Lynne was under medical care and advised by doctors that performing was not possible. The cancellations came after Lynne had previously performed with a broken hand, and social media posts from fans indicated he appeared unwell during some performances. Despite the setbacks, Lynne had previously spoken about the significance of finishing the tour at Hyde Park, expressing his excitement to share the final moments with UK fans. The event was set to feature acts like The Doobie Brothers, Steve Winwood, and Dhani Harrison, with the full lineup including several other artists.
