Kate Moss to Host BBC Podcast Exploring David Bowie’s Creative Journey, 1970–1975
Kate Moss is set to host a new podcast for BBC Radio 6 Music that examines David Bowie’s artistic evolution during the early to mid-1970s. The eight-part series, titled ‘Music Uncovered, David Bowie: Changeling,’ focuses on the years 1970 to 1975, a transformative period that saw Bowie develop iconic personas and release groundbreaking works. Moss, who was a close friend of Bowie, described him as an enigmatic figure whose creativity continues to inspire generations. The series will be available via BBC Sounds starting September 10, 2025, and will later be broadcast on BBC Radio 6 Music on September 22.
The podcast includes rare and never-before-heard archival interviews with Bowie, such as an exclusive 2001 conversation with creator Des Shaw, as well as newly discovered audio from the BBC Archive. It also features new interviews with friends and collaborators like Iggy Pop, Elton John, Chrissie Hynde, Boy George, Robbie Williams, Goldie, and Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode, alongside archival contributions from Lady Gaga, Lou Reed, Sinéad O’Connor, and others. Each episode delves into key aspects of Bowie’s early career, including his fascination with Andy Warhol, the creation of ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars,’ his landmark Hammersmith Odeon farewell performance, and his forays into later personas like The Thin White Duke.
The launch coincides with the opening of the David Bowie Centre at V&A East Storehouse in London, which serves as a working archive celebrating the largest collection dedicated to Bowie’s life and works. In addition to Moss’s project, musician Beth Ditto will debut her own BBC Radio 6 series ‘Indie Forever Disco’ in November 2025, while also joining Nick Grimshaw’s Breakfast Show from September 16. Meanwhile, Bowie’s later career will be spotlighted through a new box set release covering the years 2002–2016. This underlines the enduring influence and multifaceted legacy of David Bowie in both music and culture.
