Katy Perry Escapes Mishap After Butterfly Prop Malfunctions Mid-Performance

During her performance in San Francisco on July 18, 2025, as part of her ‘Lifetimes Tour,’ Katy Perry experienced a terrifying moment when the giant butterfly prop she was riding malfunctioned. The prop, which was suspended above the audience at the Chase Center, suddenly jerked and dropped mid-song. Perry, performing ‘Roar,’ immediately halted her singing and regained her balance, glancing upwards at the malfunctioning rig that connected the butterfly to the cables above. After regaining composure, she continued with the performance, undeterred. Videos shared by fans on social media captured the moment. This incident comes after a similar one involving Beyoncé’s flying car prop in Houston the previous month. In that case, the prop tilted in mid-air, but Beyoncé was safely lowered down without injury. Katy Perry’s team has not yet issued an official comment, but it appears she was unharmed in the incident, with the show continuing without further disruptions.
