Kneecap’s Eden Project Concert Cancelled Following Controversy Over Past Comments

The Belfast rap trio Kneecap has had their scheduled performance at the Eden Project in Cornwall cancelled following public backlash over controversial comments made during past gigs. The cancellation comes after footage resurfaced showing one member apparently calling for the killing of Conservative MPs and another expressing support for banned organizations Hamas and Hezbollah. In response, the band issued an apology to the families of murdered MPs Sir David Amess and Jo Cox, emphasizing that they do not condone violence and that their music promotes love and inclusion. However, the apology was criticized by Sir David Amess’s daughter, who called it insincere and accused the group of not taking responsibility for their words. The UK Prime Minister’s office described the apology as ‘half-hearted’ and called for a more comprehensive statement, while Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch suggested the band should be banned from performing. The Metropolitan Police are currently assessing the footage to determine if any laws were broken. Organizers of the Eden Sessions announced that all ticket holders would be refunded. The controversy has also prompted calls for Glastonbury Festival organizers to reconsider Kneecap’s inclusion in their lineup. Kneecap maintains that their statements have been misrepresented and that they do not support any terrorist organizations.
