Lily Allen’s West End Girl album portrait by Nieves González goes on display at National Portrait Gallery

British singer-songwriter Lily Allen has achieved a notable milestone in the art world, as the original portrait used for her latest album cover, West End Girl, is now on public display at London’s prestigious National Portrait Gallery. The striking oil painting, created by Spanish artist Nieves González in 2025, depicts Allen in a bold blue polka-dot padded jacket, lace mini skirt, and spotted knee-high boots, blending classical portraiture with contemporary fashion elements. Allen shared the news on Instagram, noting that the artwork will remain on view for the next year, allowing fans to see the full piece up close. This development highlights her successful comeback following the release of West End Girl, a deeply personal album inspired by the breakdown of her marriage to actor David Harbour. The record explores raw themes of heartbreak, betrayal, and self-reflection, yet it has enjoyed strong commercial success, reaching number two on the UK albums chart and the top 10 in Australia. Tracks such as Madeline and Pussy Palace have connected with audiences, with Pussy Palace placing at number 38 and the title track at 88 in the Triple J Hottest 100 for 2025. Australian fans are particularly excited, as Allen is set to perform in Perth at RAC Arena on 1 November – her first local show in seven years and a step up from her previous appearance at Metro City in 2019.
