Lola Young files legal claim over songwriting credits with producer Carter Lang
English singer Lola Young has initiated legal proceedings against producer Carter Lang regarding disputed songwriting credits on four of her songs, including the viral hit ‘Messy’. Young’s lawyers strongly reject Lang’s claims, emphasizing that agreements were already set after the sessions. The dispute has lasted several months and is being pursued through London’s intellectual property court with Sony Music Publishing’s support. The case follows soon after Young cancelled all her shows indefinitely due to a stage collapse in New York. Lang, a recognised producer who has worked with prominent artists like SZA and Post Malone, has not yet responded publicly. ‘Messy’ has been a major success, reaching number one in the UK and becoming one of the year’s most streamed songs. Young’s legal team highlighted her authenticity in songwriting and stressed the importance of protecting her integrity and reputation.
