Lorde Announces New Album ‘Virgin’ with June Release Date and Track List
Lorde has officially announced her fourth studio album, titled *Virgin*, set to be released on June 27. The announcement follows the release of the first single, “What Was That,” and a second single, “Man of the Year,” which premiered on May 29. The album features 11 tracks, including “Hammer,” “Favourite Daughter,” and “Clearblue.” Lorde unveiled the full track list during a fan event in Auckland on May 27.
In a departure from past collaborations, Lorde worked with new producers such as Jim-E Stack, Dan Nigro, Fabiana Palladino, Andrew Aged, Buddy Ross, and Devonté Hynes (Blood Orange). The album explores deeply personal themes including body image, identity, and the complexities of a past relationship. Lorde has described the work as “rugged” and reflective of a time when her understanding of gender and self evolved significantly.
The visuals for *Virgin* include provocative imagery, such as an X-ray of a pelvis with an IUD visible. Lorde has also addressed her struggles with disordered eating, both in interviews and lyrics, revealing a raw and candid artistic perspective. To promote the album, she will embark on the Ultrasound tour starting September 17 in Austin, with opening acts including Blood Orange and The Japanese House.
