Mark Ronson returns to the studio after joking about his career slowdown and wife Grace Gummer’s rising fame

British musician and producer Mark Ronson, 50, has shared a self-deprecating post on Instagram joking that his career is ‘drying up’ while his wife, actress Grace Gummer, is becoming ‘more famous’ than he is. The post, accompanied by an instrumental version of Billie Eilish’s ‘What Was I Made For?’, referenced his success with the 2023 Barbie film soundtrack, which Ronson co-produced with Andrew Wyatt. He wrote humorously about his ‘memoir money drying up’ and that it was ‘time to get back to the studio.’ Ronson and Gummer, who married in 2021 after meeting in 2020, share two daughters. Grace, the daughter of Meryl Streep, has gained attention for her performance as Caroline Kennedy in the popular 2026 series ‘Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette’. Ronson’s light-hearted post follows his win for Outstanding Contribution to Music at the 2026 BRIT Awards, where he publicly thanked Grace and their children during his acceptance speech. He also reflected on his collaboration with the late Amy Winehouse, marking 20 years since they met and created the hit ‘Back to Black’, which he said changed his career. His award was presented by Skepta, followed by a medley performance with Ghostface Killah, a tribute to Winehouse, and a surprise appearance from Dua Lipa. Ronson later expressed that receiving the BRIT honour was ‘the most meaningful’ recognition of his long career.
