Rhumba Veteran Martin Sibanda Returns with Fourth Solo Album Set for August Release

Martin ‘The Big Boss’ Sibanda, a prominent figure in Southern African rhumba music, has officially announced his return with a new solo album, scheduled for release on August 1. The musician, known for his work with Ndolwane Super Sounds and hits like ‘Bakhuzeni,’ shared the news via his official Facebook page, sparking enthusiasm among fans. Speaking from South Africa, Sibanda confirmed that the album launch will take place at Johannesburg’s Victory Theatre.

Describing the upcoming release as both educational and entertaining, Sibanda emphasized that this project is purely his own work, featuring five tracks—four in isiNdebele and one in TjiKalanga. He referred to the album as “undiluted Big Boss,” aiming to reconnect with his roots and long-time listeners.

The comeback follows a period of reduced activity after the dissolution of Ndolwane Super Sounds. However, Sibanda’s announcement signals a strong return, with plans to tour Zimbabwe following the Johannesburg show. The album title and tracklist will be revealed soon. Fans view this new release as a reaffirmation of his status in the rhumba genre.

His previous solo efforts include well-received albums like ‘Konke Sizokulungisa’ and ‘Uyavuma.’ With this latest project, Sibanda is poised to rekindle the magic that once made him a household name.
