Metro FM marks 40 years with refreshed presenters and shows
Metro FM is gearing up to mark its 40th anniversary this September by refreshing its programming lineup. The station aims to balance its long-standing legacy with new talent and innovative shows to remain a leading voice in South African radio. From April 1, Metro FM will introduce a lineup that keeps the station’s strong programming while incorporating fresh voices. Among the new additions are Siyabonga “Scoop” Ngwekazi and Nomuzi Mabena, who will co-host the lifestyle and urban-focused weekend show ‘Audiogasm’ on Fridays and Saturdays, aiming to appeal to younger audiences while still engaging long-time listeners. Ricardo Genesis, formerly from VOW FM, joins as a weekday presenter, replacing Ismail Abrahams. Traffic reporter Mvangeli Nzuza will strengthen the station’s drive-time updates, and Paulette Neo Kayise will take over weekend news bulletins to ensure continued reliable news delivery. Metro FM Business Manager Kina Nhlengethwa emphasised that these changes celebrate the station’s journey and complement the existing lineup rather than overhaul it. Regular weekday highlights will continue to feature Sabelo “Sabby” Mtshali, Candice Coulsen, Thabo “Tbo Touch” Molefe, and Luthando “Loot Love,” while weekend listeners can enjoy ‘Audiogasm’ alongside ‘The Penthouse’ with Sikhululo “Lulo Café” Maliwa and Lamiez Holworthy. This refreshed programming underlines Metro FM’s commitment to evolving with its audience while staying true to its brand identity.
