John Lodge of The Moody Blues Passes Away at 82

John Lodge, the bassist and vocalist of the legendary rock band The Moody Blues, has passed away at the age of 82. His family confirmed the news, stating that he died ‘suddenly and unexpectedly’ surrounded by loved ones. Lodge, a Birmingham native, joined The Moody Blues in 1966 and contributed to the band’s timeless music, including hits like ‘Nights in White Satin’ and ‘Isn’t Life Strange.’ Lodge was part of the band’s groundbreaking albums such as ‘Days of Future Passed,’ ‘In Search of the Lost Chord,’ and ‘Seventh Sojourn.’ Known for his passion for music and deep love for his family, Lodge was described by his family as a ‘massive-hearted man’ who found joy in performing on stage. He continued to perform until 2018 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that same year. Lodge also had a strong faith as an Evangelical Christian, which he often cited as a way to stay grounded amidst the excesses of rock and roll. His family said they would ‘forever miss his love, smile, kindness, and support.’ Lodge is survived by his wife, Kirsten, whom he married in 1968, their children, and grandchildren.
