Morgan Wallen and Tate McRae Top Billboard Hot 100 With ‘What I Want’
Morgan Wallen and Tate McRae have achieved a major chart milestone as their collaborative single, ‘What I Want’, debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track marks Wallen’s fourth chart-topping single and McRae’s first, boosting both artists’ careers. It is the leading single from Wallen’s latest album, ‘I’m the Problem’, which also debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, making it the year’s biggest release by equivalent album units so far.
The single amassed 31.2 million streams, 3.9 million radio impressions, and sold 2,000 copies in its debut week. ‘What I Want’ also lands at No. 1 on both the Streaming Songs and Hot Country Songs charts, making McRae the first artist in 2025 to top both Hot 100 and Billboard 200 for the first time.
Wallen dominates the Hot 100 this week with six tracks in the top 10, including the top three spots – a historic first for a core country artist. He now ties with Drake and Taylor Swift in placing multiple songs in the top tier simultaneously.
McRae also makes history as the 29th Canadian artist to top the Hot 100 and only the seventh Canadian woman to do so. The collaboration contributes to an ongoing trend of male-female musical partnerships ruling the charts in 2025.
