Dan Moss, a percussion expert who worked at the store, described the sudden closure as devastating, stating it leaves a gap in the local music community. He emphasized the store’s role as a creative hub where young people could explore instruments and be inspired. Dylan Barber, a Norwich-based sound engineer, echoed these sentiments, stressing that hands-on experiences in physical stores were crucial to his development as a musician. While some music stores like Cookes Band Instruments remain successful, owner Mark Hedges expressed regret over PMT’s closure, noting the passion and dedication of its staff. The news reflects a growing concern about the sustainability of music shops in the face of online retail and economic pressures.
