Violet Skies reflects on the intense and collaborative experience of co-writing Lily Allen’s new album
Welsh singer-songwriter Violet Skies, known for her collaborations with artists like Diana Ross and Zara Larsson, spent 10 unforgettable days in Los Angeles last December co-writing six tracks for Lily Allen’s new break-up album, *West End Girl*. Skies, whose real name is Hannah Berney, contributed to songs such as ‘Madeline’, ‘Sleepwalking’, and ‘Let You W/in’, which explore Allen’s emotional journey following her divorce from actor David Harbour. Skies describes the experience as ‘magical’ and ‘like a fever dream,’ and credits Allen’s openness and collaboration as key to the album’s creation. Skies also expressed pride in being part of the project, noting the significance of working alongside close friends and collaborators like Blue May and Kito. The album, released on October 24, reflects Allen’s raw emotions and features songs written in a deeply personal style, blending autobiography and fiction. Skies, who has worked with major artists and appeared on *The Voice* UK in 2012, shared her excitement over the album’s success, including the positive reception it has received worldwide.
