NSW Government Expands Grants to Support Live Performance Venues Across the State

The NSW Government has announced an expansion of its Live Performance Venue Grant Program, providing grants of up to $80,000 to small and medium-sized hospitality venues across the state. Aimed at diversifying live entertainment offerings, the $2.5 million initiative supports costs such as staging, sound equipment, performer fees, and marketing. This program, managed by the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner, follows a successful first round that funded over 50 venues in Greater Sydney, Newcastle, and Wollongong. Ash Bailey, owner of Bar Yuki in Milton, shared how the first round of grants helped enhance their venue with a PA system, backlighting, and sound protection. The goal is to boost the state’s nightlife and create more opportunities for local communities to access a variety of live performances, including music, theatre, comedy, and dance. Michael Rodrigues, the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner, emphasized the importance of live performance in the local economy. Applications for the second round of grants are now open and will close on September 23rd, offering funding between $15,000 and $80,000 to eligible venues across NSW.
