CMA Investigates Ticketmaster for Misleading Pricing on Oasis Concert Tickets

The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has raised concerns that Ticketmaster may have misled fans when selling tickets for Oasis’ 2025 reunion tour. Following complaints, the CMA investigated and found that Ticketmaster labeled certain seated tickets as ‘platinum’ and priced them at nearly 2.5 times the standard rate without clear justification. Additionally, two categories of standing tickets were sold at different prices without proper disclosure.

While many fans believed dynamic pricing was in effect—where prices fluctuate based on demand—the CMA found no evidence of this. Instead, Ticketmaster initially sold lower-priced standing tickets before releasing a higher-priced batch once those sold out. Some fans ended up paying as much as £355 for tickets that were originally advertised at £148.

In response, Downing Street emphasized the importance of fairness in ticket sales, condemning both price inflation by resellers and lack of pricing transparency. Ticketmaster defended itself, stating that fans could resell their tickets at face value through its resale platform. The investigation is ongoing, and the CMA is urging Ticketmaster to provide clearer pricing details to prevent similar issues in the future. The Oasis reunion tour kicks off in July 2025 and concludes with two Wembley Stadium performances in September.
