Olivia Dean and Little Simz top 2026 Mobo Award nominations as event marks 30th anniversary

The 2026 Mobo Awards nominations have been announced, celebrating 30 years of recognizing music of Black origin in the UK and beyond. London singer Olivia Dean and rapper Little Simz lead the nominations, each earning four nods for their acclaimed 2025 albums – Dean’s soulful ‘The Art of Loving’ and Simz’s reflective ‘Lotus.’ Both artists are up for album of the year, best female act, and song categories, confirming their status as two of Britain’s most influential voices.

Among this year’s top contenders are rising stars such as Jim Legxacy, who also gained four nominations including song of the year for his collaboration with Dave, ‘3x.’ R&B newcomer KWN stands out with nominations for best newcomer, best soul act, and song of the year for ‘Do What I Say.’ Veteran performer Sasha Keable re-emerges with nominations following her creative comeback after years of industry struggles.

Central Cee, already a record-breaking Mobo winner, returns with nominations for his much-anticipated debut album ‘Can’t Rush Greatness,’ while vocal trio Flo are recognized for their debut album ‘Access All Areas,’ which also gained them a historic Grammy nomination. Additional notable mentions include jazz ensemble Ezra Collective and rapper Kojey Radical.

The ceremony will take place on 26 March 2026 at Manchester’s Co-Op Live Arena, accompanied by a fringe festival organized with Manchester City Council featuring concerts, workshops, and panels. This year’s Mobos not only spotlight the diversity and evolving sound of British Black music but also celebrate three decades of its influence on the global stage.
