Optimo DJ Keith McIvor Passes Away After Battle with Brain Tumour

Keith McIvor, known as JD Twitch, one half of the renowned Glasgow club duo Optimo, has passed away at the age of 57 after being diagnosed with an untreatable brain tumour. McIvor died peacefully at the Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow, as confirmed by his long-time DJ partner Jonnie Wilkes, known as JG Wilkes. In a heartfelt tribute posted on social media, Wilkes described McIvor as someone whose ‘intensity and passion for life, music, creativity, and positive change never let up.’ The duo’s club night, Optimo Espacio, ran for 13 years at the Sub Club venue in Glasgow and became a significant part of the city’s music scene, continuing to influence electronic music even after its conclusion in 2010. McIvor, originally from Edinburgh, also established the club night Pure in the 1990s before joining forces with Wilkes to create Optimo. Their last night at Sub Club in 2010 attracted more than 500 attendees, with fans traveling from around the world. McIvor’s passing marks the end of an era for Optimo fans, but his impact on music and culture continues to resonate.
