Ozzy Osbourne’s Funeral Cortege to Pass Through Birmingham with Public Tribute

Fans of Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary heavy metal pioneer, will have the opportunity to pay their respects during a procession of his cortege through his hometown of Birmingham. The hearse will travel down Broad Street, heading toward the Black Sabbath bridge and bench — a site where thousands have already left tributes since his passing. Osbourne died aged 76, less than three weeks after his ‘final bow’ reunion concert with Black Sabbath at Villa Park, which raised approximately £140 million for charity. The city council and Osbourne’s family have arranged the event, with the family attending and funding it. The procession is expected to be accompanied by a live brass band, Bostin’ Brass, and large crowds are anticipated. Prior to the event, Osbourne and his Black Sabbath bandmates received the Freedom of the City honors for their cultural significance to Birmingham. A book of condolence is open at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, alongside an exhibition highlighting Osbourne’s solo career accomplishments. Osbourne, known as the Prince of Darkness, was a pioneering figure in heavy metal music, known for hits such as ‘Iron Man,’ ‘Paranoid,’ ‘War Pigs,’ and as a reality TV personality through the show The Osbournes. His family confirmed he died surrounded by love.
