On July 10, 1982, 14-year-old Celine Dion traveled to Paris for the first time to promote her album ‘Tellement j’ai d’amour.’ During this visit, she was photographed at iconic Parisian landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, as well as inside the restaurant ‘Chez Guy et Dodo.’ Her manager, René Angélil, arranged the tour, which included her first appearance on French television on the show ‘Champs-Élysées,’ hosted by Michel Drucker. After hearing her sing, Drucker predicted she would become a superstar. During this summer in Paris, Dion began promoting her single ‘D’amour ou d’amitié,’ which went on to make her the first Canadian artist to achieve Gold certification in France by early 1983, selling over 500,000 copies. In later interviews, Dion reflected on being overwhelmed by the size and grandeur of Paris compared to her small hometown of Charlemagne, while also cherishing the experiences and early guidance from Angélil. This trip marked the beginning of her rise in France and laid the foundation for her international career, which would later include selling over 250 million albums worldwide.
