Celine Dion’s First Visit to Paris in 1982 and Her Early French Success

On July 10, 1982, 14-year-old Celine Dion traveled to Paris for the first time to promote her album ‘Tellement j’ai d’amour.’ During this visit, she was photographed at iconic Parisian landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, as well as inside the restaurant ‘Chez Guy et Dodo.’ Her manager, René Angélil, arranged the tour, which included her first appearance on French television on the show ‘Champs-Élysées,’ hosted by Michel Drucker. After hearing her sing, Drucker predicted she would become a superstar. During this summer in Paris, Dion began promoting her single ‘D’amour ou d’amitié,’ which went on to make her the first Canadian artist to achieve Gold certification in France by early 1983, selling over 500,000 copies.
