Psycroptic Joins Metal Blade Records and Announces Ninth Album
Australian technical death metal band Psycroptic has announced their signing with Metal Blade Records, a significant step in their 25-year career. The Tasmanian group, known for their complex musicianship and relentless touring, are currently finalizing their ninth studio album. Alongside this announcement, they have released a new single, ‘Architects of Extinction,’ which provides a glimpse into their upcoming work. Guitarist Joe Haley and bassist Todd Stern expressed their enthusiasm about joining Metal Blade, citing the label’s influence on their musical development and its prestigious roster. Since forming in the late 1990s, Psycroptic has released eight albums, starting with ‘The Isle of Disenchantment’ in 2001, and have toured in about 40 countries, earning international recognition. The current lineup consists of the Haley brothers (Joe on guitar, Dave on drums), Jason Peppiatt (vocals), and Todd Stern (bass), with Jason Keyser of Origin contributing as a session and live vocalist. The band is also preparing for upcoming Australian and European tours, beginning with a hometown show in Hobart on June 6th, and will be touring with fellow metal act Ne Obliviscaris. This new partnership with Metal Blade Records marks a new chapter in Psycroptic’s career, reinforcing their status as one of Australia’s leading extreme metal exports.
