Sauti za Busara Festival 2027 Opens Call for African Musicians Applications

The organisers of the famous Sauti za Busara music festival have started receiving applications for musicians to perform at the 2027 edition, which will happen in Stone Town, Zanzibar, from 11 to 14 March 2027. According to the official press statement released on the festival website, all musicians and bands from Africa and the diaspora are welcome to send their proposals for performing on the festival stages. Applicants need to provide a short biography, links to videos of their live performances, audio recordings, list of technical needs, and recent photos for promotion. The deadline for sending all these materials is 30 June 2026. The festival welcomes many different styles of music like Afro-fusion, taarab, traditional roots, jazz, hip hop, and reggae. They will give more preference to acts that perform live and show a deep connection to African culture and traditions. Special encouragement is given to women artists, groups led by women, and those musicians whose songs carry important social messages that can inspire change or raise awareness. Sauti za Busara started back in 2003 and has grown to become one of the biggest platforms for bringing together artists and fans from all over Africa and the world. Its main goals are to help musicians build their careers, put African music on the global map, and boost the creative economy in the region, especially in Zanzibar and Tanzania. Every year, thousands of visitors come to Stone Town to enjoy the live shows and cultural experiences. Selected artists will get the chance to perform on the festival’s main stages, reaching a large audience. All applications must go through the official Sauti za Busara website to be considered.
