BBC explores whether cows enjoy jazz music with saxophonist performance

In a fun and somewhat quirky experiment, BBC CWR sought to answer the question: Do cows love jazz? To mark the station’s Farmwatch segment, presenter Phil Upton visited Rob Hadley’s Chesterton Fields Farm near Leamington Spa, where he introduced Julian Smith, a saxophonist and 2009 Britain’s Got Talent finalist, to a herd of South Devon cattle. Smith, accompanied by his daughter Sienna, performed in front of the cows to see if the animals reacted positively to the jazz performance. While the cows appeared indifferent at first, they showed more positive responses when Smith decided to play without his backing track and speakers, opting for a more calming, acoustic experience.
