Shakira Cancels Washington DC Concert Due to Stage Safety Concerns

Colombian pop star Shakira has cancelled her scheduled concert in Washington DC, following the earlier cancellation of her Boston performance, both due to stage production complications. The Washington show was part of WorldPride, a major LGBTQ+ festival, and was to take place at Nationals Park. However, venue officials cited unresolved issues from the Boston event that prevented the tour’s full production from being transported in time. Shakira expressed her devastation and disappointment, stating she was eagerly anticipating reuniting with fans in both cities. She assured fans that she is doing everything possible to reschedule. The problems began on May 29 when the Boston concert at Fenway Park was abruptly cancelled due to safety concerns with the stage. Performances by other artists, including Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn, were also affected. CBS News reported that the stage was found to have structural elements that did not meet safety standards during a routine check. Fans expressed frustration online, particularly those who had travelled long distances. Nonetheless, many also showed support and understanding for the singer. Shakira continues her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” tour, promoting her 12th studio album, and is set to perform in Atlanta on June 2.
