Sia’s ex-husband requests significant spousal support following their divorce
Daniel Bernard, the estranged husband of Australian singer Sia, has filed court documents requesting over $250,000 per month in spousal support following their divorce. Bernard, a former doctor, claimed he became financially dependent on Sia after leaving his career to assist in running a short-lived medical business with her. According to Bernard, the couple’s lavish lifestyle, which included private jets, luxury holidays, and full-time staff, incurred monthly expenses exceeding $400,000. The 47-year-old said that he was not accustomed to monitoring their finances, as their wealth allowed them to live an extravagant life. Bernard, who also emphasized that Sia was the primary breadwinner during their marriage, stated that the spousal support would help him maintain this lifestyle. He also mentioned the need for further training and exams before he could resume his medical practice. The couple, married in December 2022, shares an 18-month-old son. Bernard’s request for additional funds to cover legal and forensic accounting costs was also outlined in the court filing. Sia’s representatives have yet to comment on the matter.
