Noel Gallagher’s ‘Wonderwall’ Guitar Fetches $96,000 at Auction
A signed guitar once played by Noel Gallagher of Oasis during the recording of the band’s iconic second album, ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory’, has sold for a whopping $96,000 (£71,200) at an auction in New York. The Epiphone EJ-200 was used by Gallagher while recording some of Oasis’ most famous hits, including ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘Champagne Supernova’. The guitar had been expected to sell for around $80,000 (£59,500), but it surpassed expectations, reflecting the enduring popularity of the band. The album itself, released in 1995, sold over 22 million copies worldwide and remains one of the best-selling albums in history. In addition to the guitar, a handwritten lyric sheet for ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ was also auctioned, fetching $38,400 (£28,513). The items’ sale highlights the continued value of Oasis memorabilia, with the band’s musical legacy continuing to inspire collectors and fans alike.
