Adele Invests in Audoo to Support Fairer Music Royalty Payments

British singer Adele has invested a six-figure sum in Audoo, a music technology company working to ensure fairer royalty payments for musicians. As part of a £7 million funding round, Adele joins a group of high-profile investors including U2’s Adam Clayton, Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney, and ABBA’s Bjorn Ulvaeus. Audoo, founded by former musician Ryan Edwards, seeks to solve the long-standing problem of untracked public performance royalties. Edwards was inspired to create the company after realizing his own music was being played in venues like stadiums and bars without compensation.

Audoo has developed a device called the Audio Meter, which uses audio recognition technology to detect music played in public venues such as cafes, gyms, and salons. The company claims a 99% success rate for its monitoring system and has partnered with organizations like PPL/PRS to ensure accurate royalty tracking. The new funding will support Audoo’s expansion into North America and Europe—two of the world’s largest music markets. Since its inception, the company has raised over $30 million. While Adele’s management has not commented, her involvement highlights the growing support among top-tier artists for greater transparency in royalty payments.
