Tate McRae wins four major Juno Awards including Artist of the Year

Calgary-born pop artist Tate McRae emerged as the top winner at the Juno Awards industry gala on Saturday, capturing four of the night’s biggest honours. She won Artist of the Year, Single of the Year for ‘Sports Car,’ Album of the Year, and Pop Album of the Year for her project ‘So Close To What.’ Despite these achievements, McRae did not attend the event or provide any acceptance message, setting her apart from her peers. Her dominance marks a continuation of her recent success after also leading the Junos last year. The competition was fierce, with major names like Justin Bieber and The Weeknd among the most-nominated artists but leaving the gala without major wins.

Other notable winners included Daniel Caesar, who earned Songwriter of the Year, and country musician Cameron Whitcomb, who took Country Album of the Year for ‘The Hard Way.’ Toronto’s Melanie Fiona won Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, while SadBoi claimed Rap Album/EP of the Year for ‘Dry Cry.’ The Beaches were recognized for Rock Album of the Year with ‘No Hard Feelings.’ The event also introduced a new category for Latin Music Recording of the Year, with Alex Cuba receiving the inaugural award for ‘Índole.’ The broader ceremony celebrates both established and emerging Canadian talent, underscoring Canada’s growing influence in the global music landscape.
